Copper enamel portrait silk bride bag, Limoges

France, 1725

This bag is one of the bridal bags series made by Limoges from 1690 to 1760 in France. The portrait on the bride bags is the bride of King Louis XV, the Polish princess Maria Leszczynska. The portrait of the copper enamel is made by the famous craftsmanship of Limoges, which is made by sintering the image through painting into the surface of a white glaze made of copper.
